About Wes aka Pop Wasabi

Hi.

This blog has been a long time coming for me and I’m excited to finally share my spicy, unique, and, hopefully, thoughtful takes on the world of pop culture with Pop Wasabi.

My views on the subject of film, TV, and story-telling have evolved in a number of ways since I began with “Chronicles of a Kilted Samurai” on Tumblr waaay back in 2013. I was a bit more of a film bro back then. More interested in empty nitpicking of “plot holes” in major blockbusters while mimmicking the language of popular channels such as Red Letter Media. I now have found my own voice in all this that I hope is fair and at the very least understandable to readers and pop culture nerds of all stripes.

In my blog you’ll see reviews and deep dives that don’t aim for objective critique but rather to illuminate readers to what I see at least in a film or TV show. Hopefully from that you discover your own truth in what you see in story-telling and if I can do that I’ll be happy.

Though I am far from adverse to being inflammatory with my hot takes and harsh with my language I am open to discussion as long as it’s reasonable. So feel free to tell me I’m wrong, just be sure to do your homework…

Anyways, my life story isn’t too important here but I’m excited to start this hopefully fun, hopefully informative, and enjoyable space for nerds looking for long form reads on their favorite pop culture topics.
